Job Description

The Director for Foreign Exchange and Commodities is responsible for compliance oversight for the businesses covering: trading and sales of foreign exchange, physical and financial commodities, OTC derivatives, and futures.

Job Requirements

• As executive leader, accountable for the independent compliance oversight program for the FX and commodity business functions;

• Responsibilities include: planning, updating and documenting the compliance program, including monitoring and testing, policies and procedures, ethics and training;

• Responsible for the development and rollout of supervisory checklists and procedures; handling regulatory inquiries, regulatory reporting, position limits, examinations and internal audits;

• Accountable for providing advice to business personnel on rules and regulations, with particular focus on the Dodd-Frank Act and related developments; and coordinate with legal, new products, operations, IT and other areas to ensure appropriate controls are in place for current and new business activities;

• Act as the key compliance contact between the business and the regulatory authorities that govern them;

• Oversee and manage all aspects of on-going regulatory investigations including advising business management on strategy, coordinating with legal counsel, preparing and submitting responses and managing regulator’s expectations ;

• Supervise the delivery of regular training presentations to business management and sales/trading staff on emerging compliance issues, initiatives or relevant regulatory “hot button” compliance priorities;

• Accountable for reporting and escalation of material breaches of firm policies and regulatory requirements.

• 8 to 10 years regulatory experience with a FCM, international bank or commodity trading company

• Knowledge of the CFTC, NFA, CME, CBOT, NYMEX, and the FERC a must

• Have a diverse range of financial products knowledge which include both physical commodities and derivatives, futures and working knowledge of market rules and regulations

• A general understanding of registration and surveillance activities is desirable

• Thorough knowledge of the securities industry and operations of the capital markets

• Ability to work independently, think critically and make decisions

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

• Ability to deal with staff and management at all levels firm-wide

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Strong personal integrity in dealing with confidential and sensitive information

• Ability to understand, analyze, interpret and apply regulation in an operational context in an environment that is ever changing and has competing priorities

• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, many with tight deadlines

The Compliance Department is responsible for identifying and preventing violations of regulatory requirements by both employees and clients. This is accomplished by:

• Conducting monitoring and surveillance

• Providing training and education

• Liaising with regulators

• Promoting a compliance culture within the firm

• Taking preventative measures to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations

• Reviewing new business opportunities, such as new products or markets from a compliance perspective
